Finding the Perfect Shot

Have you ever taken the time with your camera to just look around the landscape and see what was worthy of being digitally captured? Often, we set out and find something so unique that it can shave a lot of time off the clock. The fun of it all is not being rushed or dictated on what to find, but often we are disappointed when we have taken numerous pictures only to erase three-quarters of our hard work to locate the picture of the year. To your surprise, you find the one picture that says it all, and you excitedly post it or share it with friends, just to get the nod or the common expression, “Oh, that’s interesting.”

Capturing the Elusive Image

What is that one picture that evades your lens? Often, it's right in front of you, and you simply walk past it. Capturing something unique can be as simple as a lonely tree in a pasture, an animal looking up towards the sky, or even before-and-after shots that draw positive critique. For beginners, try to elevate your creative mind by studying angles and lighting, object placement, or even experimenting with retro-photography, where you find historic places and add a modern flare. Your digital hobby is unique and will draw positive critique as you progress in your studies, especially if you are exploring new and exciting landscapes.

The Journey of Daniel Kinney III

There was a photographer named Daniel Kinney III who traveled across the United States with his camera, documenting places of interest. By the end of his long journey, he had captured countless photos, journaling his adventures with captivating and colorful stories. Each picture painted a landscape of excitement and intrigue. He wasn't pressured to find that one picture that would bring him fame or notoriety. Instead, he documented a progression of interest, which in its own unique way, painted a storyline that was hailed as unrestricted yet mesmerizing to his audience. His adventures into unknown territories allowed him to learn photography in ways that set him apart from a backyard perspective. This is what you can do. Set out on small adventures to begin with, and see sights that are wholly and genuinely different. This is the essence of photography: introducing yourself to an environment never seen before.
